Service Provider Terms & Conditions

Last updated 23 July 2026 · Copus (Pty) Ltd · 10% platform commission

By registering as a Service Provider on Copus, you agree to be bound by the following Terms and Conditions. Please read them carefully. These terms govern your rights and responsibilities as a provider on the platform.

1Introduction

Copus is a digital marketplace that connects skilled Service Providers with clients across South Africa. By completing your Service Provider registration, you agree to operate in accordance with these terms. Copus retains a 10% commission on each completed transaction processed through the platform, and Service Providers keep 90% of the job amount.

2Eligibility

To register as a Service Provider on Copus, you must:

Be at least 18 years of age
Have the legal right to offer your listed services in your operating area
Hold any licences, certifications, or permits required by law for your specific trade
Provide accurate and verifiable personal and professional information

Copus reserves the right to verify your information and to decline or revoke registration if eligibility requirements are not met.

3Your Listings

You are solely responsible for the accuracy, legality, and quality of your service listings. When creating a listing, you agree that:

All descriptions, pricing, and images accurately represent the service offered
Pricing must be denominated in South African Rand (ZAR)
You will not post misleading, fraudulent, or prohibited service listings
Listings that violate these terms will be removed and may result in account suspension

Copus reserves the right to review, edit, or remove any listing at any time without prior notice.

4Bookings and Cancellations

Once you accept a booking from a client, you are contractually committed to fulfilling the agreed service on the confirmed date and terms. You acknowledge that:

Accepting a booking is a binding commitment between you and the client
Repeated cancellations will negatively affect your trust score and visibility on the platform
A pattern of cancellations may result in suspension of your account
You must notify the client as soon as possible if circumstances arise that prevent fulfilment

Cancellation penalties and client refund obligations are governed by the Cancellations & Refunds terms in our Terms of Service and by our Dispute Resolution Policy, which form part of these terms.

5Payments and Commission

Copus facilitates secure payment collection on your behalf. The following payment terms apply:

Copus retains 10% of the gross amount collected on each completed job as a platform commission
Your net payout (90% of the job amount) will be processed within 3 to 5 business days of the job being marked as completed
Payouts are made to the bank account or payment method registered in your profile
Copus does not charge an upfront registration or subscription fee

All payment disputes must be raised through the Copus in-app dispute resolution process within the time limits set out in our Dispute Resolution Policy. Dispute and refund queries can be directed to disputes@copus.co.za.

6Conduct

You must conduct yourself professionally and respectfully in all interactions with clients and other platform users. The following conduct is strictly prohibited:

Harassment, threats, or abusive behaviour toward clients or Copus staff
Fraudulent representation of your qualifications, experience, or services
Soliciting clients to transact outside of the Copus platform to avoid commission
Sharing client personal information with third parties without consent
Any form of discrimination based on race, gender, religion, disability, or any other protected characteristic

Any violation of these conduct standards will result in immediate suspension and may result in permanent removal from the platform and legal action.

7Ratings and Reviews

Clients may leave honest ratings and reviews after a completed job. You acknowledge that:

Clients have the right to leave truthful reviews about their experience
Attempting to manipulate, coerce, or buy positive reviews is a violation of these terms
Attempting to intimidate clients into removing or changing negative reviews is prohibited
Copus may moderate reviews for policy compliance but will not remove honest feedback

Your rating directly affects your visibility in search results. Copus works to keep reviews fair and honest for everyone.

8Termination

Copus reserves the right to suspend or permanently remove any Service Provider account that:

Violates any provision of these Terms and Conditions
Engages in fraudulent, abusive, or illegal activity on or off the platform
Receives sustained negative ratings or client complaints
Fails to fulfil accepted bookings without reasonable cause on repeated occasions

Where possible, Copus will notify you of the reason for suspension and allow an opportunity to respond before permanent termination. However, Copus reserves the right to terminate immediately in cases involving safety, fraud, or serious misconduct.

9Governing Law

These Terms and Conditions are governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the Republic of South Africa, including:

The Electronic Communications and Transactions Act 25 of 2002
The Consumer Protection Act 68 of 2008
The Protection of Personal Information Act 4 of 2013 (POPIA)

Any disputes arising from or in connection with these terms shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the South African courts.
